Every employer assumes a large invisible burden when hiring employees, regardless of whether they are a temporary or permanent part of your practice, even volunteers & observants. The burden is the obligation and the duty to exercise reasonable care for the safety of others (employees, patients, the public, etc.). The legal term for this duty is Due Diligence. When an employer fails to exercise Due Diligence in hiring and a person is harmed (mentally or physically) by the employee, the employer could have legal action taken against them for Negligent Hiring. Once an employee is hired they have access to your office, your patients and their private information, your employees/co-workers, money, assets, reputation, and a bad hire can be devastating to your practice and open the door for legal issues! Most business theft is performed by insiders! A background check can help you, the employer, make intelligent and informed hiring decisions to help reduce risk of theft. Background screening help create a safer workplace for your employees’ and patients’ welfare.
